Curriculum Vitae Hayé Remmelink (chair)

Hayé Remmelink studied dentistry (1980) and specialized in orthodontics (1984) at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His PhD thesis (Groningen, 1985) on human maxillary sutures received the Milo Hellman Research Award of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO).

From 1985 till 2022 he worked as orthodontist in Almelo. In addition, he published and lectured frequently nationally and internationally. Cleft palate and dental sleep medicine were his special areas of interest. In 1987 he introduced mandibular repositioning appliances (MRAs) for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the Netherlands. He was, among many other activities, secretary of the Dutch Association for Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies (NVSCA), president of the Dutch Association of Orthodontists (NVvO), founding secretary of the Dutch Society of Dental Sleep Medicine (NVTS), and member of two national guideline working groups for OSAS. He is honorary member of the NVTS.

From 1998 to present he was board member of the Booy Foundation (from 2010 till today president). In 2017 he was president of the European Begg Society of Orthodontics (EBSO) and organized its 50th anniversary congress in Amsterdam. As president of the Booy Foundation he also organized the final congress of the EBSO: ORTHO-AMSTERDAM 2024. In 2026 under his presidency the Booy Foundation organizes the follow-up congress ORTHO-AMSTERDAM 2026.
